Electric vehicles are tested on a special test site to determine the range. The tests simulate city and highway driving. The range of an electric car is a key parameter that buyers always pay attention to. It is determined by a special method with clearly written rules and an algorithm. She was talked about on the Motor Mouth website.

There are several different ways to measure the range of electric cars. The most accurate of them is the method developed by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). At first, this agency measured the fuel consumption of gasoline cars, and then it also took up the range of electric cars.

As a rule, electric cars with a mileage of up to 10,000 km are selected. As part of the EPA tests, they cover at least 1,600 km. They are tested on a special training ground 6 km long. At the same time, the car is loaded, which simulates the presence of passengers and luggage. As part of the test cycle, electric cars alternate traffic with stops, which simulates city driving. They develop speeds from 48 to 112 km/h — just like on a track. Driving on the highway takes 45% of the test cycle, and in the city – 55%.
